By now you have probably read The Power of Blogging in Business (Part 1) – Why have a blog? followed by The Power of Blogging in Business (Part 2) – Finding Time to blog.
I began the Power of Blogging in Business series back in June where I mentioned the top three things clients often say to me when I ask if they would like a blog on their website:
Knowing what to blog about can deter businesses from even thinking about starting a blog. If you were to try Googling for ideas to blog about you’ll be presented with all kinds of crazy concepts, and while they might be hilarious to your friends they may not be on topic or relevant to your business.
Here are some key points to keep in the forefront of your mind when blogging on your business website.
Share a success story.
When you receive a great testimonial from a customer, ask for permission to turn it into a post. If it’s a business-to-business relationship not only will you benefit from promoting of the positive feedback, they will also gain exposure for their business. This is also a fantastic opportunity for a video testimonial.
Discuss a product or service you offer.
Select an item your customers might want to learn about and discuss the benefits or features of this item.
Jump on trending topics in your industry.
You will convey authority when you tell how things are evolving in your industry.
Show your passion.
What aspect of your business gets you excited? What customer experience was especially gratifying? Tell those personal stories.
Tips and tricks.
Remembering to always add value and give readers suggestions on how to get more out of your products. Whether it be hidden features, little known handy facts to encourage their enjoyment of the product.
